Best carseat February 17, 2010 Yessica Dupont (Mercer Island, WA USA) In short this is a great car seat. I have used it in both rear and forward facing positions and although it is large it fits fine in our mazda 3. Easy to install and adjust. The little one loves it. She is comfortable and has room and best of all is secure and protected. We upgraded from the gracco car seat and I think for our next child we will just use a britax from birth to toddler. It's a great convertible car seat.
Phenomenal Seat! February 3, 2010 Kevin Illing My daughter outgrew her infant carrier by weight before she was 5 months old so we switched her to the Britax Boulevard RF. At around 14 months, she could not longer fit RF so we did FF and have never looked back. She loves the seat and I love the safety and convenience it provides. Even at 3 years old, she still falls asleep in the car; I would too if I had a seat this comfortable!
Pros:
The side Impact panels prevent her head from flopping all over the place, seat cover is easy to remove and washes great, built solid, fabric is good quality, harness easy to adjust for bulky winter coats and do not have to unhook the seat, head support easy to move up and down. Install is pretty simple once you get use to it (takes me about 2 minutes now),recline is simple, plush and very padded.
Cons: I will agree with Abigail on the EPS,its flimsy for such an important feature.. I accidentally cracked it while removing the cover to clean (called Britax and they replaced it free of charge) and the seta itself is VERY Bulky and heavy so buy another seat when you travel. Also no cup holders but maybe thats not so bad if it keeps my car clean.
Lastly, yes this seat is expensive, but well worth it for the safety and great features. I really have just minor complaints, I like the company and their costumer service and we love this seat. Would buy again in a heartbeat!
Great Seat January 23, 2010 Lacie I love this carseat's safety record, and really when it comes to carseats I guess that's all that really matters. Although it is so big, traveling with it is kind of a pain. Other than that, no complaints!
Beware of small and mid-sized cars January 7, 2010 M. Figueroa (Washington, DC Metro) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great seat. It seems incredibly comfortable and has the added flaps that prevent my 7 month-old from drooping her head too much to the side (though, my 6 year-old never experienced any issues from the lack of flaps on her old Marathon model, so I'm not convinced that the flaps are important).
My biggest complaint is how large this seat is. In my Mazda 3, the thing is an absolute beast in reverse orientation. I can't move the front seat back to a comfortable driving position with this seat behind me. It's also very high, to the point where it's actually difficult to load the 7 month-old in without hitting her head on the roof of the car (especially with the flaps). In eyeballing the difference between this and the Roundabout (purchased at the same time), I'm pretty sure that I would have similar problems in my minivan.
That said, I prefer mounting this seat over the Roundabout. It has two strong metal bars on either side that have the belt buckles attached, making moving the seat around and tightening the buckles a bit easier, especially when changing its orientation. I always scratch my hands fumbling with the belt in the Roundabout, which uses a single belt system that passes under the cushion with two latches on either side.
So far so good! December 18, 2009 3 kids (CA) We've had this carseat installed for a few days now and it has worked out great. My son is 8 months old and big for his age. He doesn't fuss in the seat and it fits fine in our minivan. It is a big seat, though.
